Kanchi seer opposes entry of foreign varsities
"The entry of foreign universities will spell doom to our way of thinking and culture and swamp our campuses with alien values. It would be hard to undo the damage once they were permitted".

Dear Sir,

Sages of Contemporary India.
Today, in our country, there are thousands & thousands of self-proclaimed sages (sants in Hindi), each with their own following, believers of their self-proclaimed sainthood. Innumerable mahamandleshwars & peethadheeswars roam around India. Then there are dozens & dozens of those who give discourses (satsangs) & their satsangs are telecasted on TV on round-the-clock religious channels. These TV friendly sants travel all over the world doing satsangs, enjoying the five-star hospitality of their devotees on the side.
But the question that I ask is – can these jagadgurus & gurujis & swamis & bapus and bhaijis & other assorted priests, be truly considered sants? And my answer to this question is an emphatic – NO. A sant is someone who tells us the truth, guides us towards understanding. With this simplest, most basic definition in mind, I wish to exhort each & every Sanatan Dharmi (Hindu, in common parlance) to consider the likes of Nirad Chaudhari, Kanchan Gupta, Sandhya Jain, Tarun Vijay, S Gurumurthy, Francois Gautier, Arun Shorie, A Surya Prakash, Ram Swarup, Sita Ram Goel, Harsh Narain, Jay Dubashi, Koenraad Elst, Dr B B Lal, & many other such divine people, worthy of our utmost respect & gratitude, as the true saints, true sants of our times, saints of contemporary India. The list I have given above is by no means exhaustive, and there are many other such divine human beings among us who are trying their level best to help the Hindus through these utterly testing times, who act as friends of friendless Hindus.
Every person that I have mentioned above deserves every bit of gratitude and adulation that comes his or her way. These special human beings are my gurus, the ones who have shaped me mentally. It is their books & articles and writings who have made me who I am. I will forever remain indebted to each one of them. Be it Sita Ram Goel, whose Voice of India publication(http://www.voiceofdharma.com/) is the most valuable publication for me in the entire world, Sandhya Jain, who at times gives the impression that she is an incarnation of Maa Saraswati, Koenraad Elst or Francois Gautier, who may not officially be Sanatan Dharmis(Hindus), but are more knowledgeable about Sanatan Dharma than 90% of official Hindus, and are great scholars, or Kanchan Gupta, who has this unbelievable gift of telling things as they are, calling a spade a spade, or any other divine scholar that I have mentioned, each one of them is God’s gift to Hindus in this day & age. Therefore, I exhort every Hindu to consider people & scholars like these as the true Hindu saints of our age. For it is these people who guide us towards truth, more than any jagadguru or shankaracharya. The entire Hindu society needs to take up this matter on an urgent basis, & these scholars should be declared as Hindus saints immediately.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
ABHINAV SRIVASTAVA.
FROM BHOPAL.
